Liberace's Piano
In 1972, at the height of his career, Liberace had two pianos custom built to his exact specifications. The one that is being offered here was made specifically for recording and was used on all Liberace's recordings from 1972 on. The piano was housed at Producers Workshop (a recording studio in Los Angeles) until the artist's death in 1986. It was then relocated to Woodlands Studios in Nashville. In 1991, Woodland officially purchased the piano. This instrument is quite remarkable due to its crisp, clear sound. Where most pianos are rather soft in the bottom or bass register, the Liberace recording piano retains great clarity and a dramatic, powerful sound.
This piano has been used for thousands of recording projects (in addition, of course, to Liberace's use) including:
Billy Joel & Elton John, (Duets)
Fleetwood Mac, (Rumors)
Emmy Lou Harris, (Wrecking Ball)
Steely Dan, (Aja)
Clint Black, (Killin Time)
