Mickey Mouse Original Gouache Signed Walt Disney, Circa late 1930's
An original gouache of Mickey Mouse signed “Walt Disney”. It depicts Mickey and Minnie in bright fresh colors, strolling through a flower-lined country lane while a large golden moon smiles down on them. The design is unique, and no other reproduction quite like it has been found so far. Purchased at Sotheby’s on December 10, 1983. Framed and matted. Mickey Mouse is the most recognized cartoon figure in America, and possibly the world. The charming little mouse started with Steamboat Mickey and continues to this day to be one of the most beloved figures among adults and children the world over, especially at Disney Land and Disney World. This gouache of Mickey and Minnie Mouse is from the early heyday of the Disney Studios, and is unusual in that exact copies of the design have to date not been seen in the market. The colors are rich and bright, and the signature clear.
