Bert Stern Signed Vintage Silver Work-Print of Marilyn Monroe from "Last Sitting"

A one-of-a-kind black and white silver print photograph of Marilyn Monroe taken by Bert Stern, used by him in the creation of the book “Marilyn Monroe: The Complete Last Sitting”, 1982. Signed and stamped on both front and back by the photographer, and bearing notations in his handwriting. Matted and framed. Image H16 x 19, frame H: 23 x 26.

The notations on the back are in Stern’s handwriting indicating its use for placement in the book. During the photo-selection process, the photographs were placed all around the photographer’s studio. This is the photograph used as the last picture in the book, because it was Stern’s favorite. This is a rare, one-of-a-kind photograph, not part of a series or an edition. It was given to the consignor personally by Bert Stern, in appreciation for helping with the photo-editing of the book. The book was published by William Morrow in 1982.

Marilyn Monroe has become one of the most iconic women of all time. Her face, her movies, her life, and her death, are endlessly discussed and avidly followed all around the world. She has become part of 20th-century American culture.
