Original “Where the Wild Things Are” artwork, created by Maurice Sendak especially for the 1985 Jewish Book Month poster. Includes the original ink and watercolor drawing and the original pencil study for the poster, both framed, and a copy of the final poster. Watercolor: image height: 12 ½ inches x 12 1/5 inches, frame height: 25 inches x 21 inches; Pencil study: image height: 18 ¾ inches x 14 ½ inches; frame height: 25 inches x 21 inches ; Poster: 19 inches x 15 inches
Prepared for the Jewish Book Council of New York for the Jewish Book Month, which lasted November 7 to December 7, 1985. The original ink and watercolor drawing was created using the characters from Sendak’s classic children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are”. The original pencil study is fully developed and lettered by the artist. A copy of the actual finished poster is in an enclosed folder behind the framed pencil study.
