Two Unpublished Vintage Cary Grant Photographs from the Sanford Roth Collection

Two vintage, never-before-seen black and white photographs of Cary Grant from the Sanford Roth Collection. In them, the actor is in a pair of brief white shorts, clowning in a pool and doing chin-ups. These rare photos of the American film legend shows him at his most relaxed and playful.

Sanford Roth was a globe-trotting photographer most known for the photographs he took of celebrities in their quiet moments, most notably James Dean. His photography graced the covers and interiors of many of the most popular and prestigious magazines in the Europe and the United States in the mid-20th-century. Born in New York, he spent much of his professional life criss-crossing the Atlantic, living in many of the cultural and fashion capitals of the world.
