Vintage United Nations Scale Model, circa 1965

Scale model of the United Nations buildings and plaza, created by former Star-Ledger artist Walter H. Bryda. Housed in a Lucite case and accompanied by notebooks of photographs, documentation, and background information. Lucite case: H 17inches x 28 ½ inches x 18 ½ inches.

This scale model of the United Nations building and plaza was created by a former New Jersey Star-Ledger newspaper artist, Walter H. Bryda. He made the model using plans of the actual site and building, paying extraordinary attention to detail.

The notebooks that accompany the piece are a true time-capsule, and include contemporary black and white photographs, letters to U.N. officials dating from 1965 and 1966, newspaper clippings, ads, current trademarks agreements, and anything that related to what he was doing. It is a veritable treasure-trove of U.N.-related historical ephemera.
