Superman Cape Worn by Christopher Reeve, 1978
The classic red cape was worn by Christopher Reeve as the “man of steel” in the Warner Brothers “Superman” movie made in 1978. It bears the yellow fabric shield with a capitol “S” for Superman, and has deliberately-created distressing for use in the movie. There is a padded insert inside around the neck opening with extensive hand-sewn snap closures to accommodate rigging. There is a white cloth tape with black marker letters reading “F.2. Flying Cape Pretty Good”, and underneath in ink: “Damage”.
