Vintage Chair from NY's Famed Apollo Theater
This is strongly believed to be the very first seat ever sold from New York City's world famous Apollo Theater. For more than three quarters of a century, the Apollo has been home to America's greatest performing artists. Indeed, many musical legends got their start on the stage of the Harlem landmark. The Apollo became famous for launching the careers of artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, James Brown, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Jackson 5, Patti LaBelle, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Ben E. King, Mariah Carey, The Isley Brothers, Lauryn Hill, and Sarah Vaughan. Having recently undergone an extensive restoration, its original seats were removed for restoration. This seat, with restored cushion, is the very first one to be offered for sale. It is coming directly from the Theater. It is a treasure.
