JFK Dining Plates and Unpublished Photographs, 1963
Thirteen colbalt-blue colored dinner plates made by Syracuse China Company used at the Inter American Press Association dinner for President John F. Kennedy on Monday November 18th, 1963. Each plate has a large Presidential golden eagle seal in the center surrounded by a circle of the fourteen crests of the Press Association organizations involved in the dinner, with a gold-colored outer rim. One of the dishes was used by John F. Kennedy with a "P" marking on the back, and ten remain unopened and unused in original plastic wrapping. This lot is accompanied by an extensive collection of supporting documents and ephemera, including a menu from the evening, unpublished photographs of Kennedy and the event, supporting letters, hotel information, membership book and copies of the newspaper coverage of the event.
