Lot 905* Jacqueline Kennedy's Caroline Herrera Suit

This chic and stylish wool suit, by renowned designer Carolina Herrera, consists of three pieces in tan and wine-color hounds tooth plaid. The body of the thigh-length jacket is in a small version of the plaid, and is edged around the collar and lapels with a larger scale version of the same plaid. The straight slim skirt is made of the larger scale plaid. Both the jacket and the skirt are lined in deep red silk. A large fringed stole, again in the larger scale plaid, completes this stunning ensemble. This suit today, with no association to Mrs. Kennedy, would easily retail for several thousand dollars. Carolina Herrera, the well-known South American designer, formed her own company in 1981 and remains prominent in the world of fashion. Her exquisitely detailed, expertly crafted creations are in demand by specialty stores, and chic, sophisticated women the world over. The accompanying certificate of authenticity is from Providencia Paredes, personal maid to Jacqueline Kennedy from 1959 to 1965.
