Lot 842* "Inaugural Head" Plaster Sculpture of Kennedy by Robert Berks

Original "Inaugural Head" sculpture of John F. Kennedy in plaster that Robert Berks created the night of President Kennedy's assassination, signed on the nape of the neck. The plaster surface has been coated with a patina to replicate the bronze that would customarily be the material used when the sculpure was later cast. This portrait bust shows a more youthful Kennedy than the "Heroic Head." Slightly smaller versions of this bust were produced and distributed through Alva Museum Replicas, but this is the original portrait bust. One print of the "Heroic Head" bust produced by Robert Berks and dated December 6, 1963 on the verso is also included. The bust is in good condition with only small areas of plaster visible on the edges. Bust 10 x 5 x 6, Wooden base 2 x 5 x 5, Print 9 3/4 x 8
