Lot 249

Hand-Made Miniature Carousel

Miniature hand-made old-fashioned carousel, decagon-shaped base with 15 tiny horses. Crafted of painted wood, metal, mirrors, and decorative composites. Height: 9 ½ inches x 9 ½ inches

This tiny work of art was hand-made by the consigner, who has crafted other works for the prestigious Rita Ford Gallery of New Providence. Standing less than 10 inches high on a decagon base, it captures perfectly the image of the classic carousel, with pennants snapping in the wind and horses stretched at a full gallop in the eternal circle. Around the top ring façade, at the end of each radiating support arm are small oval mirrors interspersed with clown faces and lion heads. It is created of many pieces of wood, some less than 1/8” wide, slender metal rods in both twisted and straight designs, and decorative elements in a variety of materials. The colors are predominantly red, yellow, and turquoise, with touches of green, gold, pink, blue, and cream.

Estimate: $2,500 - $3,500
