consists of more than 6,000 original illustrations created by the most
accomplished artist ever to work in this unique field. Working in the 1970s,
80s and 90s, Ms. Dengrove was the official legal artist for the National
Broadcasting Company (NBC), and frequently was commissioned by PBS, The
New York Times, the History Channel, the Arts & Entertainment Network (A
& E) and many other media networks. At a time when cameras were not permitted
into the courtroom, Ms. Dengrove captured the images of John Lennon, John
Gotti, Jean Harris and thousands of others who took part in our nation's
most compelling trials. She became a celebrity in her own right, winning
several Emmy Awards and appearing as a frequent guest on popular television
programming such as David Letterman. Clearly, the Dengrove Archive is the
most graphic depiction in existence of the American legal system in action
during the latter part of the twentieth century.
Fifty examples of Ida Libby Dengrove's art can be seen on this site. To discuss
